Nutrition Education and Counselling (Dietitians)

The following lists include some of the programs that are led by clinical dietitians. Please note that programs may vary by location. Please contact one of the locations listed below to learn more about programs offered in your area, the referral process and any additional bloodwork/test results and documentation that may be required.

The following group education programs may be offered in specific locations for the for nutrition management of:

  • Hyperlipidemia/high cholesterol
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
  • Celiac Disease
  • Hypertension (high blood pressure)
  • Osteoporosis-low bone mass and deterioration of the bone tissue
  • Weight Management – Available at some locations if BMI > 27 with accompanying medical condition that can be improved with weight loss

Additional group education session may be available on a variety of nutrition related topics such as vegetarian eating, nutrition during pregnancy and healthy eating for all ages.

Individual counselling may be offered in specific locations for the for nutrition management of:

  • Allergies
  • Gastrointestinal Disorders - e.g.: Diverticular Disease, Gastroesophageal Reflux, Liver Disease, Dumping Syndrome, Celiac Disease*, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Diarrhea & Constipation.
  • Low Body Weight or Unexplained Weight Loss: Low Body Weight < 18.5 and/or significant weight loss.
  • Disordered Eating and/or Body Image - Eating disorders or abnormal eating behaviours that are disruptive to normal life.
  • Diabetes

Individual counselling related to the nutritional management of kidney stones, nutrient deficiencies, low blood glucose (sugar), as well as maternal and pediatric conditions may be offered in limited locations.
