Halifax, NS – Cancer care providers in Nova Scotia are moving from paper-based patient records to a cancer-specific electronic medical record system called ARIA CORE this fall. An online patient tool that connects patients with their care team will also expand to include more functions. A car accident in 1999 left 35-year-old Angela Cook with a spinal cord injury. No longer able to walk, Angela now needed a wheelchair to get around, but this didn’t slow her down.
While she was still recovering in hospital, Angela designed a wheelchair accessible home on the shores of picturesque St. Margaret’s Bay.

Paving and repair work, including prep work, is scheduled to begin at Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney on Monday, Sept. 30. This work includes sidewalk and curb repairs as well as paving. It is expected to take two weeks to complete.
Kendra Goetz has always been drawn to the fast-paced, dynamic environment of the emergency department. Starting her career as a registered nurse (RN) at the QEII Health Sciences Centre in 2017, she quickly found her calling. By 2021, she was working at Cobequid Community Health Centre’s emergency department, gaining invaluable experience.
On Friday, Sept. 27 a mock training exercise will take place on the construction site at the back of Cape Breton Regional Hospital from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The exercise is being organized by the construction management team for the expansions at the Regional Hospital and will involve Cape Breton Regional Municipality Fire Services. The mock training exercise will use a mannequin to simulate a high-angle rescue from one of the tower cranes (Tower Crane A).
