Amelia Fletcher has brought her green thumb to work and in the process is helping patients and staff alike.
In 2022, Fletcher joined Nova Scotia Health to work as an occupational therapist in the Mental Health and Addictions Program, having worked at an inpatient psychiatry clinic in Dartmouth and a community outpatient program known as Beacon House in the western zone.

For Cindy Smith, each day that she gets to work with her clients in her role as an occupational therapy assistant (OTA) is a gift.
She hasn’t taken a single day for granted in her 15-year career as an OTA.
“I think I’m very privileged to be able to work with the client population that I do,” she said.

Not a day goes by that Adele Bursey doesn’t consider herself fortunate to be working in a career that combines her two biggest passions – her hometown and helping others.
Born and raised in New Waterford, Bursey joined the mental health clinic in Glace Bay in 2019 as an occupational therapist, a role that allows her to help people in her community.
It’s a privilege that isn’t lost on her.
“I’ve always been a homebody, so it’s never been a question that I wanted to stay and plant roots here and help my community,” she said.
Patients going to the South Shore After Hours Primary Care Clinic will now go to a new location for their appointment. The clinic has moved from its former location at South Shore Regional Hospital.
Starting Tuesday, October 8, patients of the After Hours Primary Care Clinic will access care at the new location in the Medical Arts Building - Suite 302, 42 Glen Allen Drive, Bridgewater.

A new virtual urgent care service was launched at Soldiers Memorial Hospital in August, and now Nova Scotia Health invites the community to drop-in to a public open house session to learn more.
At this drop-in session, Nova Scotia Health representative will share information and answer questions about the new service, including how it works and what health issues are appropriate.
