Aya, a dual Canadian and Egyptian citizen, holds a bachelor’s degree in microbiology and entomology and a medical laboratory assistant diploma from CBBC Career College. She is currently finalizing a diploma in Full-Stack Development from McMaster University.

Beginning Sunday, March 24, all inpatient services at All Saints Springhill Hospital will return including the reopening of services on the second floor. 

All Saints Springhill Hospital was temporarily closed for assessment and remediation following an evacuation on Monday, March 4. The building opened to most services on Friday, March 8.  

ANTIGONISH, NS – Public Health is accepting referrals for clients to participate in the Nurse-Family Partnership Program (NFP) in Nova Scotia’s Eastern Zone, which includes Antigonish, Guysborough, Cape Breton, Inverness, Richmond, and Victoria counties.

On Friday, April 26, Nova Scotia Health will be hosting its first provincial career fair taking place in 11 communities across the province. From 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., representatives from various NSH departments will be in Amherst, New Glasgow, Truro, Sydney, Inverness, Antigonish, Sheet Harbour, Halifax, Bridgewater and Yarmouth to discuss career and volunteer opportunities across the organization.

A water leak that occurred on Friday, March 15, in the Abbie J. Lane Memorial Building at the QEII Health Sciences Centre has caused disruptions in the provision of Mental Health and Addictions services, leading to the relocation of patients from the inpatient unit.

The incident has primarily affected Floors 5, 6, and 7 of the Abbie Lane Building, resulting in the loss of 20 inpatient beds. Before the leak, there were 48 inpatient beds available. 

The extent of the damage is still under assessment, and timelines for repairs and bed operationalization remain uncertain.

Nova Scotia Health and local community organizations are collaborating to host several drop-in events focused on harm reduction within the community. At these events, attendees can expect support and valuable insights on substance use harm reduction strategies.

A water leak midday on Friday at the Abbie J. Lane Memorial Building has resulted in the movement of some patients from the Mental Health and Addictions inpatient unit.

Water damage is still being assessed, but at this time five patients have been discharged or transferred to other beds within the system. The possibility exists that other patients will also need to be relocated.
