Parenting While Coping with Change

PL-1286: This pamphlet is part of the Diabetes in Children and Youth Series. When a child is diagnosed with diabetes, caregivers often put their children’s needs first. This pamphlet has tips on how to take care of your child and yourself as you cope with the change that comes with new diabetes diagnosis.

Preventing Diabetic Ketoacidosis

PL-01345: This pamphlet is part of the Diabetes in Children and Youth Series. This pamphlet explains what diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) is and has tips on how to prevent it. Symptoms of DKA are listed and recommendations on when to go to your nearest Emergency Department are given. How to calculate and give insulin to correct glucose is also included.

Severe Hypoglycemia

PL-1257: This pamphlet is part of the Diabetes in Children and Youth Series. This pamphlet lists symptoms of severe (very bad) hypoglycemia, also called low blood glucose. Information on what to do if you have severe hypoglycemia and how to give a glucagon injection is included.
