This pamphlet is part of the Diabetes in Children and Youth Series. An insulin-to-carb ratio (ICR) tells you how much rapid acting insulin you need to “cover” a certain amount of carb. Using an ICR allows you to dose the amount of rapid acting insulin based on the amount of carb you eat or drink at each meal and sometimes with snacks. This pamphlet explains how to test and adjust your ICR.
