The websites to book appointments for blood collection, X-Rays, EKGs and COVID-19 testing will be unavailable from Tuesday April 1st from 2100 – 2130.  This is necessary for routine IT updates. During this time, the public will be unable to book appointments on-line and Nova Scotia Health staff will be unable to view the calendar or book online appointments for these services. Some services used by YourHealthNS may be unavailable for a brief period while servers are patched and rebooted.

Nova Scotia Health Expands Emergency Department Hours at Queens General Hospital

Liverpool, NS - Nova Scotia Health is introducing expanded and consistent hours for the Queens General Hospital emergency department to provide more reliable access to care for the community.

Effective March 1, 2025, the Queens General Hospital emergency department will operate under the following schedule:

  • Open 24 hours from Monday at 8 a.m. to Friday at 1:30 p.m.
  • Closed from 1:30 p.m. on Friday until 8 a.m. on Monday.

This change increases the emergency department’s weekly operating hours from approximately 35 to 101.5 hours, providing more consistent access to care for patients. 

Recruitment efforts to provide further coverage continue with commitment to returning the emergency department to full function seven days a week. This expansion reflects Nova Scotia Health’s commitment to improving access to emergency care for the Liverpool community. 

When the emergency department is open or closed, the community can access virtual urgent care at the site, seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Anyone experiencing a medical emergency should call 911. For general health advice and information call 811 to speak to an experienced registered nurse 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
