Kentville resident praises YourHealthNS app
The YourHealthNS app earns high praise from residents who rely on the technology to streamline their medical care, cut down on unnecessary medical trips and take a more active role in managing their personal well-being.
Kentville resident Colin Bowers said the application has fundamentally transformed how he and his mother navigate the healthcare system. Since both Bowers and his mother are immunocompromised, minimizing exposure to waiting rooms is a top priority. The YourHealthNS app provides a crucial solution by allowing them to handle routine medical administrative tasks entirely from home.
"It's just so great to be able to do that without having to go in person or even phone," Bowers explained.
The platform enables users to securely log in, review laboratory and blood work results, track upcoming appointments and access complete immunization records.
“The screen for blood test results gives normal ratios below your figure so you can tell whether yours is within the normal range or outside it,” he said.
Bowers specifically highlighted the platform's Patient Summary and vaccine tracking features as his favourite components of the system. He noted the newly added drop-down Patient Summary creates a clean, centralized home screen highlighting frequently used buttons, making navigation effortless even for users who prefer traditional computing methods.
Though the YourHealthNS app is optimized for mobile devices, Bowers primarily uses the service through his personal laptop, proving the platform is versatile across different types of technology.
He suggests patients are increasingly comfortable taking charge of minor health tracking with the advice and supervision of their doctors. Rather than relying solely on traditional communication methods, he believes patients benefit from having straightforward access to their everyday medical data.
