Improving both patient and provider experience: Debra Muise's commitment to quality care
Debra Muise, a dedicated primary healthcare coordinator working as a practice facilitator in the Western Zone, brings a wealth of experience and a passion for improving primary healthcare to her role. Hailing from Yarmouth, Muise's journey to her current position has been filled with diverse experiences, starting from her 13-year tenure at Public Health as a bio clerk and administrative assistant.
Joining Nova Scotia Health in 2009, Muise has worn many hats, from the emergency room to admitting and day surgery units. However, her recent transition to the practice facilitator role marks an exciting new chapter in her career. "I just started my role as a practice facilitator, so there is a lot of learning that goes with it," she says, embracing the challenges with enthusiasm.
For Muise, the heart of her work lies in quality improvement and patient-centered care. "To me, practice facilitation means improving both patient and provider experiences, with the focus being on patient-centred care," she says. Tailoring her approach to the unique needs of each practice, Muise fosters lasting relationships with every member of the team, ensuring that positive changes are made.
Away from her professional endeavors, Muise finds joy in spending time with her granddaughter and enjoying adventurous fishing trips together. "My favorite thing to do is have adventure days with Oaklen," she says, cherishing these moments of shared excitement.
As a member of a dynamic team dedicated to transforming primary healthcare, Muise is thrilled to contribute to this noble cause. "I am happy to be part of a team that works together with the same goal of transforming primary healthcare by helping facilitate small changes within practices and building great relationships along the way. We are all in this together," she says, embodying the spirit of collaboration and camaraderie. With her unwavering dedication and warm demeanor, Debra Muise continues to make a positive impact on healthcare in the Western Zone and beyond.
