Barrington Community Health Clinic 

Hwy 3, #3640, Barrington Passage

• This clinic offers a monthly clinic with a female nurse practitioner. It is open to patients who do not have a family doctor or nurse practitioner and live in the Shelburne area. The clinic is also available for patients who do have a family doctor or nurse practitioner and prefer a female provider. Prescreening appointments are scheduled to assess each patient’s needs and confirm that they meet the criteria for requiring a Pap smear.
• This clinic offers cervical cancer screening with Pap smears, contraceptive counselling (including subdermal implant insertions), STI testing, and breast exams. Other services e.g., menopause management, can be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Canso Medical Clinic

• This clinic is available for patients of Canso Medical Clinic, by appointment. 
• This clinic will be offering birth control (including IUDs and implants), Pap Smears and STI screening, menopause care, breast assessments, pelvic floor and urinary concerns.

• The clinic is offered periodically, normally in the spring and fall. • The clinic offers PAP tests and breast exams.
• The clinic is available to people without a family doctor or nurse practitioner, or those who would prefer to see a female provider.

This clinic does not provide PAP tests, hormone replacement therapy, birth control options, or general health assessments unrelated to STIs.

Appointments will be available 48 hours in advance, they are separated by symptomatic and asymptomatic (no symptoms). Phone lines will remain open on clinic days between 1 and 3 p.m., if you need to speak with a nurse or require assistance in booking. 

We offer in-person physician assessment and treatment of STIs for those with symptoms or questions. However, if you only want screening and have no concerns that require you to see a physician, please select “no symptoms option.” We have a dedicated phlebotomist on our team, who will draw blood for STBBI during your appointment.  

How do I find the clinic?

Enter through the main entrance of the Dickson Building, then take the elevator to the 5th floor. Turn right off the elevator and we are the desk right in front of you.

Digby and Area Health Services Centre

• The clinic occurs monthly. To book an appointment, call 902-245-1307. 
• The clinic provides PAP tests completed by a female provider and STI testing.
• The clinic sees anyone from Digby County with a cervix aged 25 years and older.

• The clinic is usually offered once a month, by appointment. To be added to the waitlist, call 1-833-710-0110, option 3. Phone lines are open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. If calling outside these hours, you can leave a voicemail and someone will return your call the next business day.
• The clinic offers PAP tests and IUD removals and insertions. STI testing is also offered at the time of a PAP test or IUD removal or insertion. If you only require STI testing, you can access the Same Day Clinic.
• The clinic is available to people living in Kings and Annapolis counties. Preference is given to people without a family doctor or nurse practitioner. People with a family doctor or nurse practitioner may also be able to access the clinic if their provider does not offer these services.

These clinics are offered in a safe, relaxing and welcoming environment.  Services are provided by Female Family Physicians with expertise in Women's Health.  Services include Cervical Cancer Screening (PAP testing), STI (sexually transmitted illness) testing, breast screening promotion and investigation of breast symptoms, contraceptive counseling (Including IUD insertions and Nexplanon insertions), investigation of abnormal uterine bleeding and treatment of post-menopausal health concerns. Appointments are available Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday by calling 1 877 794 5427.

Shelburne Family Practice

• This clinic is offered with a female nurse practitioner. It is open to patients who do not have a family doctor or nurse practitioner and live in the Shelburne area. The clinic is also available for patients who do have a family doctor or nurse practitioner and prefer a female provider. Prescreening appointments are scheduled to assess each patient’s needs and confirm that they meet the criteria for requiring a Pap smear.
