Language Services at NSH

At Nova Scotia Health, we are committed to supporting equitable access to care by helping patients, families, and care partners communicate effectively with their healthcare team. Language Services supports interpretation and translation needs across the organization to help reduce language barriers and improve healthcare experience for those who need it.

Interpretation services are available in multiple languages, including sign language, helping ensure patients can better understand their care and make informed decisions. This work is part of our broader commitment to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Reconciliation and Accessibility, as well as patient- and family-centred care.

Interpretation is offered for both in-person and virtual appointments. Phone and video interpretation are also available to support communication between patients and care teams.

Patients and families are encouraged to let their care team know if they need interpretation in their preferred language or access to translated documents.
