A tangible difference in patient care: Kayla Zwicker's commitment in primary healthcare
Kayla Zwicker, originally from a rural community outside of Bridgewater, is a seasoned healthcare professional with a passion for improving primary care services. Armed with a background in medical office administration and over a decade of experience in the field, she joined Nova Scotia Health in 2022 as a primary health care coordinator working in a practice facilitator position.
Zwicker plays a pivotal role in ensuring that clinics and teams operate efficiently to deliver top-notch patient care. "I am here to help support and facilitate changes within clinics and teams to allow them to function efficiently," she explains.
One of the most rewarding aspects of Zwicker's job is having the opportunity to collaborate with clinics and teams in a supportive role, while still contributing to the delivery of direct patient care, she notes, underscoring her passion for her work.
Zwicker's knack for problem-solving and her dedication to her role shine through in her anecdote about managing a patient roster transition.
"Another facilitator and I managed the patient roster for a retiring physician in order to smoothly transition it to a new provider," she recounts. Her meticulous attention to detail and proficiency with electronic medical records ensured a seamless transition for over 9,000 active patients.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Zwicker enjoys the simple pleasures of life. Whether it's curling up with a good book, savoring delicious food or embarking on camping and beach adventures with her family, she finds joy in the little things.
In essence, Kayla Zwicker's commitment to facilitating improvements within primary health care practices, coupled with her warm and approachable demeanor, makes her an invaluable asset to Nova Scotia Health and the communities she serves.
