Nova Scotia Health and Life Sciences Nova Scotia enter formal collaboration

HALIFAX, N.S. – Effective July 15, 2024, Nova Scotia Health and Life Sciences Nova Scotia have announced an agreement to enhance collaboration between the two organizations. 

Doris Grant, CEO of Life Sciences Nova Scotia, will assume the role of Managing Director of the Nova Scotia Health Innovation Hub. Doris will continue to serve as CEO of Life Sciences Nova Scotia.

Grant brings extensive experience in healthcare management and innovation, having previously held roles at the Office of Commercialization and Industry Engagement at Dalhousie University, as well as serving as the former Senior Director of Innovation at the Nova Scotia Health Innovation Hub. As Managing Director, she will oversee all operations of the Health Innovation Hub and lead several strategic initiatives.

"I am thrilled to step into this role and further deepen the collaboration between Nova Scotia Health and Life Sciences Nova Scotia,” said Grant. “This partnership presents a unique opportunity to integrate our efforts and amplify our impact on healthcare innovation and the life sciences ecosystem. I look forward to driving initiatives that will benefit patients, healthcare providers, innovators, entrepreneurs and our vibrant healthcare and life sciences ecosystem."

Over the next year, Grant and the Life Sciences Nova Scotia team will collaborate closely with the Health Innovation Hub to increase the impact of both organizations. A key focus will be on aligning programs and supports to benefit innovators, entrepreneurs, and companies in the life and health sciences sector.

“I believe there is a real opportunity here to coordinate our efforts and make our ecosystem stronger. Not only between LSNS and Health Innovation Hub, but across the ecosystem,” said Kevin Sullivan, Chair of LSNS. “We are excited to play our part in helping make that happen.”

Dr. Gail Tomblin Murphy will continue in an advisory role with the Nova Scotia Health Innovation Hub in areas pertaining to health innovation.
