Northside Urgent Treatment Centre expanding hours of operation
The Northside Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) will now be open an additional day per week, starting this Friday. The Friday hours will be 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The centre will operate Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Hours are subject to change and any modifications will be updated online at www.nshealth.ca/urgenttreatmentcentre .
Located at Northside General Hospital, the Northside UTC opened Nov. 1, 2021 and was the first of its kind in Nova Scotia. Since then, seven UTCs have opened across the province, and more than 16,000 people have received care at the Northside UTC for unexpected, non-life-threatening health concerns. Some examples include simple fractures, sprains, earaches, minor cuts and mild mental health support. The centre is available to people with or without a family doctor or nurse practitioner.
Patients can book an appointment by calling 902-794-8966 or by going to the centre in person, where they will be assessed by a nurse to determine if they will be scheduled for an appointment, either later that day or the next day the centre is open. Nova Scotia Health recommends calling ahead to book appointments, when possible.
The centre’s voicemail is updated and a sign placed in the centre’e entrance letting the public know when there are no more appointments for that day.
