Visiting Hours

Visitors are welcome throughout the day based on patient needs and preferences. Family and friends may bring food to a patient but should confirm with nursing staff that it does not conflict with any food restrictions.

*Learn more about NSHA's Family Presence Policy, which welcomes up to two people named by the patient to be their family or primary support person/people.

Private Rooms at North Cumberland Health Care Centre

  • Private room: Includes one bed and one washroom. You can find current rates here.
    Note:  There are no semi-private rooms at this facility.

Space in our private and semi-private rooms is limited. The sooner we have your insurance information the more likely we are to be able to accommodate your request.

When the booking clerk calls with your hospital admission date, let them know you are interested in a private or semi-private room.

When you are admitted, be sure to have your private insurance card with you and let the admitting clerk know you have requested a private or semi-private room.TV & Phone in your Room

During your stay at the hospital, you will receive breakfast, lunch and supper daily. Meals are prepared off-site and offer a full range of food services to inpatients.

About

North Cumberland Health Care Centre provides enough space for the services housed in the old hospital and in the primary health collaborative practice next door to be under one roof. Through a shared reception area, doctor and nurse practitioner offices are connected to acute care services including the Collaborative Emergency Centre (CEC), X-ray, rehabilitation, laboratory and inpatient care beds for observation, short stay and palliative patients.

This facility is a Collaborative Emergency Centre (CEC).  We are open based on physician availability. Please call 902-243-2521 for more information. During overnight hours, we are staffed by a registered nurse and licensed practical nurse who may consult with a virtual physician.

Virtual urgent care service will be available onsite Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and on weekdays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. 

To access virtual urgent care, anyone with mild or moderate health concerns can walk-in during hours of operation. A Nova Scotia Health team member will support you by providing the technology and a quiet space for your virtual visit with a healthcare provider.
