About Niche - Contact

Our efforts to integrate Ukrainian health care workers into communities and the health system fall within Nova Scotia’s International Community of Health Workers Engagement (NICHE) Program. Through this program, Nova Scotia Health, in collaboration with our partners, is developing pathways for the recruitment and retention of internationally educated health professionals to improve access to care in rural Nova Scotia. Positioned within Nova Scotia Health’s Innovation Hub, the objectives of the NICHE program are to:

  • Create recruitment, immigration, settlement, and licensure pathways for internationally educated health care workers who are looking to practice in Nova Scotia.
  • Deliver education, training, and supervision to recruited professionals across conditional and full licensure streams;
  • Prepare communities and the health system for the successful integration of recruited healthcare professionals and their families; and
  • Provide comprehensive settlement and transition-to-practice supports to recruited professionals and their families.
