prideHealth supports Two-Spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex and asexual (2SLGBTQIA+) people by improving their access to safe, coordinated, comprehensive and culturally appropriate primary health care. We support individuals, families and NSH/IWK staff to promote health equity and affirming care.
prideHealth is a partnership between Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health.
prideHealth provides the following services for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community:
- Navigation support for accessing 2SLGBTQIA+ affirming care, including gender-affirming care, STBBI (sexually transmitted and blood borne infection) testing, treatment and prevention, reproductive and fertility care, mental health and addictions care, and community supports and programs.
- Education and training resources that individuals can give to their health care providers about 2SLGBTQIA+ affirming care.

Resources for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community:
- prideHealth houses an interactive online tool to help people understand the steps for accessing hormone therapy, gender affirming surgery and legal transition in Nova Scotia. This tool was developed in partnership with the Youth Project and the Halifax Sexual Health Centre.
- SUGAR Health can help you find sexual, gender and reproductive health services in Nova Scotia.
- HEAL NS provides health information and resources to people living with HIV and to 2SLGBTQIA+ communities.
- Check Me Out has a checklist of recommended STI tests, vaccines and health exams for 2SLGBTQIA+ people.
prideHealth provides the following supports to NSH/IWK staff and community organizations:
- Information and navigation support for health care professionals on 2SLGBTQIA+ affirming care, including gender-affirming care, STBBI testing, treatment and prevention, reproductive and fertility care, mental health and addictions care, and community supports and programs.
- Workshops and learning opportunities on 2SLGBTQIA+ health equity and cultural safety.
- The annual Affirming Care Conference, three days of virtual learning and discussion on delivering culturally safe care to 2SLGBTQIA+ people and communities.
- Consultation on policies, practices and standards relevant to 2SLGBTQIA+ health care and health equity.
- Consultation on organizational policies and practices related to workforce development, human resources, workplace wellness, and health data and information systems.
- The Pride Network for NSH/IWK staff who identify as 2SLGBTQIA+.

- CBRC Mainpro+® accredited courses on gender-affirming care, PrEP and STBBI testing and treatment.
- Trans Care BC and Rainbow Health Ontario resources and education on providing care to 2SLGBTQIA+ people.
