As a health and wellness program, we hope to explain the long-term effects of anger on one's health if not appropriately managed and addressed. The goal of the program is also for individuals to have conversations around emotions, stressors, communication skills, mindfulness, understanding what anger is, identify appropriate ways to handle anger, and how anger can affect both health and relationships. Come join us and leave with an increased self-awareness and a better understanding of your responsibility to manage emotions. The Anger Management program is free. Registration is required. Barber Shop Talks The barbershop in the Black community has historically been a safe, nonjudgmental space for men to talk about anything. Through an interactive format, Barber Shop Talk aims to help Black men and boys confess their vulnerabilities and give them resources to begin a healthier way of living, as well as to show barbers how they can be mental health advocates. Seeking help can be difficult, an effect of stigma that Barber Shop Talk is hoping to erase. At the barbershop, guys are already outspoken and opinionated, but we don’t tend to talk about self-care and the things that make sure we’re around for our kids and future generations. With these sessions we want to explore Black men and boy’s health and wellness issues and learn to help each other through peer discussion and health professional’s talks. the Barbershop Talks is a free program. Registration is required. Please register with Duane Winter at 902-240-6131 or email Duane.Winter@nshealth.ca.
