Ambulatory care clinics are where patients come to have simple procedures (such as IV medications, phlebotomies) that otherwise generally aren't performed in a doctor’s or nurse practitioner's office.
Some of the clinics include, but not limited to:
- Pediatric asthma clinic
- Plastics clinic - (to see the plastic surgeon for minor procedures or follow-ups),
- Surgical clinic - (to see surgeon for follow-ups and minor procedures not done in an office and not needing an operating room)
- Colposcopy clinic - (to follow-up and procedures for women with abnormal pap results)
- Ophthalmology clinics - (to see an Ophthalmologist for eye injections and minor procedures)
- Wound clinic - (on the same day as plastics and is run by a wound care nurse)
- Foot clinic - (a trained advance foot care nurse who looks after advanced foot care issues, esp diabetics)
- Family Physician clinic - (for injections/removal of and other minor procedures not done in doctor’s offices) a Registered nurse clinic ( for IV injections/infusions such as iron, phlebotomies and such that can be a one time order or a monthly/bimonthly treatment)
*There are also occasionally visiting specialists and groups that come and use our facilities to see area patients to save some travel to the QEII in Halifax, such as consults with a neurologist and IWK interdisciplinary teams.

How do I make an appointment?
The process varies by region
The Ambulatory clinic at St Martha's Regional Hospital is accessed by a referral to one of the specialists who have clinics there, or by a family doctor who books procedures through there. Patients that have booked appointments proceed to registration on the main floor before presenting to the Ambulatory Care area.
