New hours for walk-in lab collections, specimen drop-off at New Waterford Consolidated Hospital
NEW WATERFORD, N.S. – There are new hours for walk-in blood and specimen collections and drop-off at New Waterford Consolidated Hospital.
Starting this week, the new hours are:
• Walk-in blood and specimen collections – Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. with patient registration closing at 11:30 a.m.
• Specimen drop-off – Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
This is a change from the previous hours of Tuesday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for walk-in collections and Tuesday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for specimen drop-off. The new hours better align with walk-in service and specimen drop-off hours at community hospitals in Glace Bay and North Sydney.
The change in hours is only for the walk-in collections and specimen drop-off services. It does not affect patients in hospital or clinics.
People are reminded that blood and specimen collections are temporarily located in the hospital’s Assembly Hall while installation work to add a fire sprinkler system to the hospital continues. To access blood and specimen collections, use the Acadia Street side entrance; the accessible entrance at the rear of the hospital near physicians’ offices (upper Acadia Street side) or the hospital’s main entrance.
