Hot water shutdown taking place at Cape Breton Regional Hospital this weekend

A hot water shutdown will take place starting Friday, Nov. 26 at Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney to complete required maintenance on the system.

The shutdown will begin at 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 26 and will last for approximately 12 hours until 8 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 27. Following the shutdown, a hot water boil advisory will be in effect until 10 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 28.

While access to the hospital is not impacted, measures have been put in place for the shutdown and boil water advisory. People are asked to not turn on hot water taps while the shutdown is underway. They are also asked to follow all signage that is in place. Cold water will not be affected by the shutdown.

During the hot water boil advisory, hot water is not to be consumed and people are asked to use alcohol-based hand sanitizer after washing their hands.

COVID-19 measures including visitor restrictions, social distancing, wearing a non-medical mask and good hand hygiene will also remain in place.

Nova Scotia Health appreciates your patience and cooperation while this work is underway.
