Former Cumberland Health Authority win Mainstay Award

Nova Scotia’s Mainstay Awards are part of the province’s safety awards program that promotes a culture of safety in the workplace. At an awards ceremony on Tuesday, May 5th, the Human Resources Team from the former Cumberland Health Authority was pleased to receive a 2015 Mainstay Award in recognition of its outstanding return to work program. As the provincial 2015 “Employer Return to Work Champion”, the team was recognized for its program that was introduced in early 2014. The team, comprised of Erin Lewis, HR Generalist, Valerie Parker, Employee Health Nurse, and Chris Goudge, Occupational Health and Safety Coordinator – and with outstanding support from managers from across the district - successfully introduced the new program that helps ensure employees are able to return to the workplace in a safe and timely manner.
An overall reduction in lost-time weeks of 87% between 2013 and 2014 is clear evidence of the success of the program. Congratulations!
