To book a screening appointment, women over the age of 40 who have no breast problems and no breast implants may self-refer by calling:

A file will be made for you when you Call to book your screening mammogram appointment that includes your name, date of birth, mailing address and health card number. You do not need to have a doctor’s referral to make an appointment. However, please provide us with the name of your family doctor so that we can forward information regarding your mammogram results.

This service is available for all asymptomatic women over the age of 40 who have a current Canadian Health Card. Please have your health card ready when you call.

The Journey Room is a place where cancer patients and their families can go for information, discussion or a quiet respite. The room is run by trained volunteers who will help patients and their families to unwind, enjoy some calming music or an inspirational book. It offers complementary services such as Reiki, massage and yoga. Hairdressing services, wig fittings and head wraps are also available at the Journey Room.

The Journey Room is located on the 3rd floor of South Shore Regional Hospital across from the Oncology Clinic. Follow the purple line from the elevator. Reiki is available Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursday from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.
