Brett MacDougall

Vice President of Operations for Eastern Zone

Brett MacDougall has spent most of his 23-year health care career in Cape Breton, starting as a critical care nurse in the emergency care setting in Nova Scotia and the USA. He progressed through leadership roles as director of perioperative services, women and children's health, ambulatory care, emergency care, integrated health director, site leader of Cape Breton Regional Hospital and most recently, Executive Director of Health Services for Eastern Zone.

Brett is passionate and optimistic about health care services in Eastern Zone. His past experience as a direct care provider and health care leader has allowed him to work with countless health care professionals who strive to deliver the highest quality of care to patients. He is enthusiastic and experienced in leading others, and thrives in team environments fostering strong collaboration, stakeholder engagement and cross-functional communication. He has a passion that is rooted in promoting positive change, empowerment and healthy development for the patients and families we serve within our communities.

Brett is a graduate of St. Francis Xavier University with Bachelor of Science in both biology and nursing, and is scheduled to graduate from Cape Breton University with an MBA this year.
